Digital Compositing - Research
These are some videos I have found to help me with my ICA.
I was thinking if I used the football pitch I might have something destroy the bleachers and have found some videos which help get what I want...

Digital Compositing
The ICA for this class is to create a 30 second piece with the following:
• 2D motion tracking
• 4 point tracking in 2D
• Rotoscoping of some live action footage
• Greenscreen keying and compositing
• Colour grading/colour correction
• Compositing render passes
I have two ideas for this one, the beach where they filmed part of Alien 3 is right next to where I live so I might film there and then add something landing on it. Or there is an old football pitch at the end of my street with bleachers so I might film that and add something to the field or something destroying the bleachers.
I dont have the idea 100% sorted but its narrowed down to those two locations which is better than nothing. Will post the research and progress as it happens

CG Tech
The ICA for this project is to create a 45 second animation and the theme is 'Pirouette'. The first that came to mind was ballet, but thats not really thinking out of the box.
I cant really seem to think of much...

Animation Pre Production
The ICA for this is a live brief.
We have to create a 30 second ad for SP13.
They are coming out with a new app and our job is to create something that will appeal to companies such as Sky.
We are in a group of 4 - Myself, Janey, Sun and Caitlin.
We had the practice presentation on Tuesday, I think it went well. Didnt go over the 5 minutes which is good.
There isnt really too much else i can say, we cant really upload anything as of yet with it still an on going live brief :)
Our big presentation is on the 11th, this will be in front of our tutors, shelly page from dream works and Anthony from 13 Strides.
All of the teams had to come up with their own idea/animatic and after all the presentations the judges will pick one. Then after the christmas the chosen one is the one we all have to make. We can chose our own style but we all have to use the same timings, script etc Will update this when we get more information.

• 3D tracking and match-moving
• Proxy Models
• Light Matching
• Photorealistic texturing
• Particles and simulation
• Multi-pass
It had taken me a little while to figure out what to do but I think I am going to do a space invaders scene. I am going to use the chest of drawers at the top of the stairs, it has a candle set, air freshener and a picture frame on it.
The light on the air freshener will go off, the glass candles will shake and start to move upwards. The air freshener will move to the center of the drawers and when it is under a candle the light will go off and it will shoot/spray the candle making the candle shatter.
Not sure the picture frames part in this, it might just stay where it is, or when everything moves it might get scared and go face down on the table till everything is over. Or it could fall on its back and then when its over the flap at the back that helps it stand up could open helping it get back up.
At the end when the glass is all shattered the air freshener returns so its spot. I havent decided if I am going to add a person to this scene, if so I might use a person to light the candles at the beginning or walk past and when they are down stairs is when they start to animate.

The ICA for Sequential Art is to come up with a comic strip about Dan Dare.
We have been given the character names and descriptions. Part one has already been submitted and I will post my characters when i get the chance.
I researched the actual comic Dan Dare and the characters were quite realistic, i'm not really into drawing that style myself. I feel my characters are more aimed at the younger audience. I do like drawing realistic objects but more so for outside projects, not so much for my actual animation characters.
Anywho, for part one we had to submit drawings of all the characters, props, rough storyboard, the team all together, research and sketches of it all, the landscapes in the day and at night. I went with really simple drawings as i feel i tend to over complicate my ideas and this time i drew them and said STOP, it feels so much better to do that then spend weeks and weeks drawing and redrawing something, i am way too critical on myself and need to learn that simple is sometimes better.
I will upload images when i am next on.

Hi Guys,
I have created this blog to post all my Uni work on, to divide the college work from the Uni work. (my previou blog was through out college :D) Lets hope the things i post here are a lil better in quality.
I wanted a space where i can get my ideas out and also saves writing them down and then losing paper etc, this keeps track a little better of my progress.
So if anyone looks at it, enjoy :D
