Sequential Art

Last update of the day...

This project is due in three weeks so need to get a wriggle on seeing as how my CS6 Trial runs out in 9 days.

These are the characters I have for my comic:  (L-R: Phant, Stripy (Bee),Lex, Lero, Digby, Dan Dare)

I had a bit of an issue with this project, my hard drive died so I have to redo whatever work I had. Good thing I saved these images to other places though!! So all I have to show is the above and my first frame of the comic.

There are 16 frames in this comic. I need to do 15 of the frames, line work in Illustrator and colour in Photoshop and then redo the speech bubbles as the ones provided are a bit bumpy. I want to make them smoother to go with the characters of my comic.

Illustrator practice:

The first two image are following tutorials during class and the last two are ones I have done on my own.

Visual Effects

My update for Visual Effects...

I have done a few tests with particles, so need to get some good ones for my reel.

I also have changed my idea for this as I do not have enough time to redo the footage to get better camera angles.

I plan on using some footage I took while we had Jack at the park, I am going to create a character pushing him on the swings. And make the character a little translucent.

These are the candles I modelled for my original space invaders idea:

Here are some particle tests I have done:

This is some of the footage I have taken at the Park:

This is the previs I had made for my original idea:

For this project, still a lot to do:

3D tracking and match moving, proxy model (my character), light matching, photo realistic texturing, multipass rendering.

Fun times ahead!

Digital Compositing

I have attempted colour correction using Nuke. I got an image from Google of Katie Holmes these are the results. The first image is the google image and my colour correction image is the second image.

I tried another composite and colour correction test using images provided by Digital Tutors.

I placed the car on the background image, sized the car and then changed the colours.

The first image is the one which was provided to by digital tutors and my changes are in the second image.

I also tried out a few extreme colour changes:

For our group project we took some green screen footage. We havent ended up using it for that so I have decided to use some of it as part of this module.

This is the movement/video I will be using:

I thought of having him with a beach background, but thought that might not really go. So I am thinking of using a gym or exercise type environment. I might even put him into some of the footage that I have shot at the park.

The things I still need to do for this module are:

2D motion tracking, 4 Point tracking in 2d, Rotoscoping live action, Green screen keying and compositing and render passes. I have 9 days to do it as my trial of Nuke runs out then!

CG Tech

An update for this class.

I have made my character and the scene. I am having some issues with rigging the character so it is holding me back a little bit in regards to completing this.

Once I get that sorted I then can add lighting and animate the camera.

Here is what I have done so far:

This is my character, Simon

This is the spaceship I have made:

This is the scene:

This is the animatic I have created for this project:

This project is based on the word 'Piroutte' and needs to be 45 seconds long.

My plan is to have Simon walk into the forest, he is looking at the trees when he hears a sound, he steps back and a spaceship is coming towards him. The spaceship beams him, he spins (pirouettes) into the spaceship and it takes off with him.

Animation Pre-Production

Though I should get some up to date work on here, things i've done so far.

For our group project my task was to make the stadium and the scoreboard.

I had a few issues at the start with the stadium, being my first Maya project. I can definitly say now that i've had some time with the program and it sure does take time to get things done.

These are images of the assets I made for inside the stadium:

And here is the stadium I have made:

I also helped with the equipment and made the punching bag:

Also in regards to the scoreboard, my role is to animate the logo, here is a test I have done:

The roles have been divided out to team as follows:
Janey - Build and texture logos and equipment, animate logos, doing the group blog
Linsey - Build and texture stadium, build and add animated logo to scoreboard, helping with equipment, powerpoint for presentation
Caitlin - Animate character, animate camera movements
Sun - Build character, texture character, do lighting
As a group - Edit, composite, render
We are getting there. We have 3 weeks to get everything finished and then we have a presentation. Fingers crossed we do well :D
