Final year group project

We have started some illustrations for our group project and here area few I have done:

Monday 15 April 2013

Sequential Art

As we are coming to end of the second year of University, it is deadline time.

The brief for Sequential Art was to create a 16 panel comic showing line work, colours and shadows. The story lines were given to us and the layout.

To create this I:

Drew the characters
Scanned them in and did the line work in Illustrator
Coloured them in Photoshop and also did the shadows in Photoshop
Made the speech bubbles in Illustrator and added the text in Photoshop
I did the backgrounds in Illustrator and coloured them in Photoshop
Assembled the whole comic in Photoshop

These are my characters, props and final comic

Animation Pre Production

The brief for this project was to create a 30 second animation for clients SP13.

This was a group project. Our group name: Nameless Production.
The other team members: Janey Konoplits (Producer), Caitlin Vickers (3D Animator), Junjie Jin (3D Modler)

We firstly went through the stage of creating storyboards, an animatic and also had to do a presentation for The director of SP13, Anthony Borsumato and Shelley Page from Dreamworks.

They chose one animatic out of everyone's and we had to create our final production using the chosen animatic as the reference.

My roles in this project:

Stadium: Modeled and textured (including the world background)
Punchbag: Modeled, textured and animated
Scoreboard: Modeled and textured
Animated footall and placed net
Animated logo at the end
Scenes I rendered: Punch bag, Punch bag scene, World, Football kick scene, Scoreboard scene and Logo.

This is the final product:

I have put the characters on to their own sheets, showing my pencil drawing, the line work in Illustrator and then with colour.

Sequential Art

Last update of the day...

This project is due in three weeks so need to get a wriggle on seeing as how my CS6 Trial runs out in 9 days.

These are the characters I have for my comic:  (L-R: Phant, Stripy (Bee),Lex, Lero, Digby, Dan Dare)

I had a bit of an issue with this project, my hard drive died so I have to redo whatever work I had. Good thing I saved these images to other places though!! So all I have to show is the above and my first frame of the comic.

There are 16 frames in this comic. I need to do 15 of the frames, line work in Illustrator and colour in Photoshop and then redo the speech bubbles as the ones provided are a bit bumpy. I want to make them smoother to go with the characters of my comic.

Illustrator practice:

The first two image are following tutorials during class and the last two are ones I have done on my own.

Visual Effects

My update for Visual Effects...

I have done a few tests with particles, so need to get some good ones for my reel.

I also have changed my idea for this as I do not have enough time to redo the footage to get better camera angles.

I plan on using some footage I took while we had Jack at the park, I am going to create a character pushing him on the swings. And make the character a little translucent.

These are the candles I modelled for my original space invaders idea:

Here are some particle tests I have done:

This is some of the footage I have taken at the Park:

This is the previs I had made for my original idea:

For this project, still a lot to do:

3D tracking and match moving, proxy model (my character), light matching, photo realistic texturing, multipass rendering.

Fun times ahead!

Digital Compositing

I have attempted colour correction using Nuke. I got an image from Google of Katie Holmes these are the results. The first image is the google image and my colour correction image is the second image.

I tried another composite and colour correction test using images provided by Digital Tutors.

I placed the car on the background image, sized the car and then changed the colours.

The first image is the one which was provided to by digital tutors and my changes are in the second image.

I also tried out a few extreme colour changes:

For our group project we took some green screen footage. We havent ended up using it for that so I have decided to use some of it as part of this module.

This is the movement/video I will be using:

I thought of having him with a beach background, but thought that might not really go. So I am thinking of using a gym or exercise type environment. I might even put him into some of the footage that I have shot at the park.

The things I still need to do for this module are:

2D motion tracking, 4 Point tracking in 2d, Rotoscoping live action, Green screen keying and compositing and render passes. I have 9 days to do it as my trial of Nuke runs out then!
